Posidonia 2008 |
| I know... I know... I was absent from my pages for a few weeks and here I am now to explain about it and introduce you to a part of my life that plays an important role to my life... my job. |
As you have seen at the information about myself in my page I work as a marketing manager and big part of my work targets the marine market, the biggest industry of my country.
I love working at this field because I have born in an island and I have grown up in a family which had strong relationships with the marine world. My father, a marine engineer, was a semi owner of a small ship with the name "Samos" which for many years sailed at the Aegean waters.
The most important event for Greek marine world and one of the top events of the world marine is the exhibition "Posidonia", an exhibition that takes its name from the ancient God "Posidon" the God of the sea and it is organized every two years in Greece. |
On Sunday the day before the Grand Opening I was at the Hellenicon Exhibition Center trying to set up everything inside our stand and Claus from Denmark was there to help me not only with the products of his company but giving a hand to me at the overall set up of the pavilion.
After the end of our job I offered him a ride to Varkiza for some relaxed time and a nice dinner under the shadow of the big trees of the small harbor. For my surprise he asked me to stop at the middle of the busy road in order to take a photo of me and my cabrio. It was a time with traffic as everybody returned back to the city after the time they passed at the beaches of Attica. |
| Posidonia 2008 was the 21st biennial International Shipping Exhibition. More than 1.600 exhibiting companies from 80 countries participated and over 16.000 visitors from Greece and other countries were recorded. The span of exhibited products and services covered every aspect of the shipping industry.
Monday night was the Great Opening and the Prime Minister of Greece was there to open the exhibition and make the necessary announcements for the press and the Marine World. |
| My company participates in every Posidonia exhibition and I have worked the last 4 years to organize the participations for the last 3 exhibitions. I start working after the end of each Posidonia to organize the next exhibition and I really enjoy this part of my work. |
| This year's participation was the most successful of all for my company and I have to admit that I offered a lot of my time and my attention in order to have everything ready on time. |
| The night of the Grand Opening we were all there and many of my colleagues came to help me presenting the products and services of their companies. Mathisen from Finland and Claus from Denmark accompanied me and Gogo (the sales person of our company) for a photo which will reminds us the time we worked hard in this exhibition. |
At the days of exhibition many parties organized by the organizers of the exhibitions, from many of the participant companies and from the Greek shipping companies. It is a really great festival for our world and we enjoy it with a lot of work during the day and with plenty of entertainment for the nights.
My company organized a dinner too on Wednesday at the time of a magnificent sunset in Kavouri and we had the opportunity for friendly conversation with our colleagues who came from many different countries. We work with them every day by emails and it is really wonderful to meet them and know each other in a more relaxed way... eating the big fish of the photo and drinking the white wine that is prepared specially for the occasion of the exhibition and has been decorated with a label I designed. |
The big marine exhibition Posidonia 2008 finished on Friday 6 of June and a cycle has closed in my life. The new date has closed for 2010 and the world marine community has started from now to prepare itself for the next Posidonia... the Posidonia 2010.
I believe I gave you a taste of a participation in a big international marine exhibition. I have missed you all this period I had to be away of my page and I will try to read whatever I have lost in your pages. |
