Goodbye to Summer - Welcome to Autumn |
|
The season I love most of all has ended. Summer has ended for the northern hemispfere. The funny season, the rest and lazy period of the year belongs now to the past.
One more summer of our life lives now only at our memories.

I have chosen today to say my goodbye to this summer.. the summer of 2006 with some photos.
Photos from a place I like to be, a place that offers me calm and peace. |
|
| My goodbye comes from the small hill where a small church of Saint Nicolas sends an amazing goodbye to each day looking at the endless blue.
This place belongs as you have imagined at my island, in Samos. I like to be there during sunsets. It is not only the peace I have discovered that offers to me. It is also a sacred place for me. At this church there is an icon of the Holy Mother, an icon which is the offer of my family to the saint of the sailors. At this icon I read every time the name of my mother.
Maybe it is my imagination but I feel her presence at this location. What it is not my imagination is the sense of peace that each visit there leaves to my spirit. |

Summer is the past but Autumn has entered to our life. A new cycle starts and according to the myth of life the ancient Goddess Persephone has already told the goodbye to her mother, Demeter , the Goddess of vegetation and fertility.
According to my ancestors , Persephone was the lovely daughter of Zeus and Demeter , a goddess of springtime. After Hades abducted her she became the queen of the underworld, but Demeter missed her so much that the earth grew barren. Hades struck a deal with Demeter and allowed Persephone to spend six months each year with him, during which time the land died (autumn and winter) and six months with her mother, during which time the earth flourished (spring and summer). |
|
The land around us starts slowly to die according to the orders of Demeter but this death give us beautiful colors. I have seen this season at many places but I believe the best colors you could ever find is in Canada. This season is the season of miracles for this country. It is a festival of colors that will fill for ever my heart. |
|
| That is why I welcome this autumn with a photo of this amazing place. Enjoy Ottawa during autumn. Enjoy the beauty of the nature which dies in a storm of warm colours. |
