Meeting my 360 friend, Roula!

This week was special for me as I had the pleasure to meet one of my 360 yahoo friends. The meeting had been arranged a few months ago after one of my travel blogs. Roula wrote me at her comments that it was at her plans to visit Greece this summer and wanted to meet me. I replied that I would love it too and we exchanged our cell numbers.
Roula lives in New York and she is Greek in originality but her family immigrated in US when she was 14 years old and they set up their life there.
Roula has Greece at her heart and she likes to spend all her vacation time traveling around Greece visiting many places inland and at the islands every year that she comes here.

We met each other at the Village Center in Renti last Sunday. She recognized me immediately and I heard a voice called me as I approached the meeting place. So strange... really amazing and unbelievable what this internet communication could done.

We have made an entrance to each others world using as a medium our 360 web pages. We publish our thoughts and parts of our lives there and we have made our neighborhood in a village that covers all globe.

I am sure that when I opened the window at my pc's monitor every morning I will find your greeting... a warm welcome to the new day. Some days I am extremely busy and I open my 360 web page just for a few seconds just to see all these greetings and welcome with a smile the love that this page reflects for me.

My children insist that this is my addiction when they see me traveling with my laptop everywhere but I could not be away from all you... from your comments and I enjoy learning if you are happy or you are sad. You are my friends... you have filled my world.

I have started meeting some of you and you reacted offering help and encouragement to me at many of the problems I have faced the last 2 years I keep this page.

We talked a lot about this with Roula. We found so many commons experiences in our life. We are both divorced and we have taken life to our hands, and at our shoulders the weight of our family, raising our children and made them responsible and good citizens.

We continued talking until 2 a.m. and when the time came to say the goodbye I proposed to Roula another meeting as she were going to stay a few more days in Athens until the day of her departure to US. So we arranged a meeting for Wednesday and this time I offered to Roula a ride with my cabrio to the Attiki's coasts. We traveled around Attiki and we stopped for a dinner in Varkiza, a city that reminds me my island and I love to visit it during weekends.

After our dinner it was time for our coffee and we visited Kavouri area. We arrived there almost midnight. Yes... Greece doesn't use to sleep at nights and you could enjoy your coffee or your drink any time of day or night.

After a few minutes we haδ sat at our seats in a cafeteria-bar with an amazing view of the Saronic sea a cat came close to me. It was like this cat searched to find me. I had never seen this cat again.

I love cats and as I use to do with animals I talked to this cat saying a simple hi cat (yia sou gatoula) but the cat looked at me and jumped landing on my legs where it stayed all the time we were there. It was like this cat searched to find me.

We found this very strange and weird and Roula told me that this is something she has seen for first time. This cat have come to take caress from me and it knew that I enjoyed touching and fondle it.

So... the conversation changed and we drunk our coffee talking about the animals and the environment that suffered the last summer in Greece .

It was a great night and I am sure it was the start of a friendship that it will last for a life. Roula now has been arrived in New York . I have received her email a few minutes ago. She is not so happy that her vacations have ended and she must work a lot to adjust herself again to the normal for her rhythm of life.

I believe that this summer offered to her one more reason to come in Greece for the next summer and I will be happy to see her again and enjoy her company. Who knows... maybe next summer we will meet again our new friend... the cat!
