Visiting a... "Trauma Queen"

Something different at my blog today... Let's talk for art... Let's visit an art exhibition. Let's meet the "Trauma Queen".
A week ago one of my online contacts from Austria, Max, wrote me to inform me about his participation in an exhibition in Athens. As he wrote... you are an art lover... you should come to this exhibition.
The grand opening of the exhibition was on Friday, 7 of September and I was there... on time to see something different. I search to learn something more about the exhibition and I learned that responsible for the communication was one of the more important art magazines in Greece and that was a guarantee that for sure something new... something progressive would be at this exhibition.
The exhibition has been held in a semi cast hotel down town in Athens. At night... this place is really a trauma by itself. Strange people walk over there... As for the hotel... it was a scary experience as you could see at my photos too.

The exhibition was a combination of media which could form art. Paintings, glyphs, video movies, powerpoint presentations, combination of objects we use every day in our life and of course all these in front of the scary background of the destroyed hotel.

From the parts of the exhibition that made me think a lot were the 2 video. At the first of them we had to watch someone who did something we use to do every day... using the dryer to dry our hair and we think... we talk with ourselves making long conversations about our hairs. So common thoughts... thoughts without a real meaning... our commonplace...

The other video movie presented a man who worked hard in order to cut a branch of a tree but at the same branch he is sitting on. Of course when he succeeded to cut the branch of the tree with his saw he also fell with a thud at the ground. It seems crazy but to me it was obvious the environmental message that this video is carried. That is what we do every day... we destroy the tree we sit on. We destroy our environment and when we finish with it we would not have anything to support us in this life.

Random moments of this exhibition which form the trauma... The TV is upside down and presents a desk office with objects that move from place to place. The flowerpots... the opened window... the naked women and the walls without joinery.
Another trauma from the Trauma Queen... a lot of needles at the doll with the 2 faces. Weird indeed!!!

I visited this exhibition with my daughter Despina. She is a communicator and she shares with me this love for the art. I enjoy the conversation with her about the modern art. I am a lover of Impressionism in art, a little bit old-fashioned but that is what makes me feel happy. I see art as the beauty, as a smile that brights my life and I feel well in front of the happy paintings that this period of art has to present us.

Despina feels that she must be always updated for what happens at the art. She has closed relationship with the trends that circulated at the modern art which must be reflected at the advertising job too... at her job.

Well... time to enjoy now what Despina created at this photo with one of the exhibits of the Trauma Queen and me...

It is weird... a real trauma. Don't you think so?

I believe that the visit at this exhibition was worth it. We should encourage with our presence the new artists who have a lot to offer at the art.

Art is not only the beauty. Art could be also a "Trauma Queen".
