Lake Tsivlou

A Sunday trip... a way to relax from the every day madness that the capital city offers to me drove me to a lake at the mountain Helmos. My partners were my daughter Despina, my aunt Giota and our sharpei dog, Paris.
Lake Tsivlou lies near Akrata, almost half way to Zaroucla and at an altitude of 800m. It is one of the fewest lakes on the mountainous regions of Peloponnisos and it was created rather accidentally! A landslide in 1912 blocked Krathis River and the lake was created. It stretches for less than 200 square metres and it is 80m deep. The lake is a popular tourist destination, as well as wetland of great significance. Tsivlou Lake is nearly 80 km off the city of Patras. Visitors can tour the lake riding a bike, while weather willing, picnic on the lake's banks is a pretty good idea.
A walk around the banks of the lake was our first thought as we approached the area and an amazing beauty image appeared in our horizon.
Colors... warm colors comes from every corner. Winter is going to be our reality in a few days but still the autumn reddish colors covered the area.
The tall platans stand proudly at the banks of the lake. They are ready to lose the last leaves and start the long winter sleep. The mountain lives already the winter.
At this trip I carried with me my new camera and I was so happy to play with it taking plenty of photos. Maybe I did not have the time to learn how to use it well yet but having it there was really a big advantage. It is not the first time I have written in my blogs that I like to capture moments that distinguish parts of my life... parts I want to keep alive in my memory and this new camera will be a great tool for this.

Peace in my mind! That is what this small lake offered to me. I walked around it and I started to breath freely at last. Problems that come in my life, the stress from my work, a future which is unsure in every field of my life were nothing in front of this calm beauty.

What I have missed mostly there? Maybe... my other half. At those moments that you fill your soul with peace you need your soul mate to share what is so abundant.

The power of the water element is all around me and gives me strength.
Blue color at the lake, blue color at the sky and the mountain with the forest which fills the area with plenty of colors…
A small fountain adds at the harmony of the area. If you close your eyes images of the little creatures that live here from the ancient times comes to fill your mind. Pixies and fairies... they hide themselves behind every tree, every rock of the mountain Helmos. Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and the wild lives here too. She comes to drink from this fountain... Close your eyes and she will come and drink the clean water. Close your eyes and you will travel in some other time...
Paris enjoyed a lot the mother earth. This is the natural environment for him. He has born to live free and run fast at the forest but... he became our guide and protector at the busy town and he pass the most of his life inside the apartment waiting the weekend when we will take him with us.
Despina and Giota and ...a time to show how perfect could be a visit to a place like this lake. Nature could bring back senses and feelings we have forgotten at the fight for the survive in a place which is not our real home. This place is our natural environment... the way we have born to live.

It is so easy to find again our sentimental self when we are part of the real Universe, a creature among the others that His love created.

I enjoyed the time I passed at this small lake at the mountain Helmos and I am going to continue presenting this beautiful Greek mountain at my next blog. Until then... start planning a trip close to a lake... and remember to take me at your travel. I'll enjoy traveling with you!
